Tennessee Paycheck Calculator (2026)
Tennessee has never taxed wage income, and since 2021 it no longer taxes interest and dividends either: the old 'Hall tax' was fully phased out. So a Tennessee paycheck comes down to just federal income tax and FICA.

How Tennessee withholding works
Tennessee and the retired Hall tax
For years Tennessee had no wage tax but did tax investment income through the Hall tax. That tax was lowered each year and eliminated entirely starting in 2021, so today Tennessee taxes neither wages nor interest and dividends. Nothing state-level is withheld from your paycheck.
What Tennessee still withholds
Your paycheck still reflects federal income tax for your bracket, Social Security at 6.2%, and Medicare at 1.45%. There is no state income tax, SDI, or PFML deduction. Pre-tax contributions like a 401(k) or HSA reduce your taxable wages, and you can include them above.
